Community Connections
History of Giving

From its inception in 1998, PAETEC has placed great emphasis on giving back to the communities in which we do business. This idea of a Caring Culture has evolved from supporting local Little League baseball teams to a program that in 2007 donated more than $800,000 nationwide.

Four years ago we initiated what we feel is the best way to couple employee activism with corporate philanthropy. Our Corporate Connections program provides each officer in the company with a set dollar amount - based on their position - with which they can choose non-profit organizations to support. Additionally, these officers are encouraged to solicit input from their staffs, so every employee in the company has a chance to influence how PAETEC's charitable dollars are spent.

Not only do we support local charities through the Corporate Connections program, we also raise money annually for the United Way. In addition, we support one-time causes, such as Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. One of our employees pushed for the company to raise money for this cause, and the company both supported this effort and provided a dollar-for-dollar match in corporate funds for money raised by employees.

PAETEC likes to recognize the good work done by our employees. We offer Community Service awards for both individuals and teams, as well as the Chairman's Gold Club award, which acknowledges employees who donate at least one percent of their pay to the United Way.

Giving back to our communities is a way of life at PAETEC. Whether its having our people serve on Boards of local non-profits, providing sponsorships of events, or putting together walk teams to support a favorite cause, our caring is a large part of our culture.
